General Motors offers the following two-factor authentication options to help protect your account.
SMS
General Motors can send a one-time verification code to your phone via text message.
General Motors can deliver a one-time verification code to your email address.
Authenticator app (TOTP)
General Motors lets you use time-based one-time passwords, so you can generate verification codes in an authenticator app on your device — no network or SMS needed.
Automatically turned on for email. You are only allowed to have one method turned on at a time.
