2FA methods supported by Amazon
Amazon offers the following two-factor authentication options to help protect your account.
SMS
Amazon can send a one-time verification code to your phone via text message.
Phone call
Amazon can call your phone and read out a verification code.
Authenticator app (TOTP)
Amazon lets you use time-based one-time passwords, so you can generate verification codes in an authenticator app on your device — no network or SMS needed.
SMS or phone call required to enable 2FA. Enabling on Amazon.com activates 2FA on other regional Amazon sites, such as UK and DE.
