2FA methods supported by Vanguard
Vanguard offers the following two-factor authentication options to help protect your account.
SMS
Vanguard can send a one-time verification code to your phone via text message.
Phone call
Vanguard can call your phone and read out a verification code.
Security key (U2F)
Vanguard works with hardware security keys using the U2F/FIDO standard.
Hardware token
Vanguard supports a dedicated hardware token for generating codes.
Security keys can not be used to log in to mobile app or mobile website.

Does Vanguard support an authenticator app?
No. Vanguard does not currently offer TOTP-based codes, but it does support SMS, Phone call, Security key (U2F), Hardware token.
