1Password offers the following two-factor authentication options to help protect your account.

Authenticator app (TOTP)

1Password lets you use time-based one-time passwords, so you can generate verification codes in an authenticator app on your device — no network or SMS needed.

Security key (U2F)

1Password works with hardware security keys using the U2F/FIDO standard.

Hardware token

1Password supports a dedicated hardware token for generating codes.

Proprietary app

1Password offers its own companion app for approving sign-ins.

Teams using Duo with 1Password can't enable other 2FA methods. Non-U2F Hardware tokens and custom software methods are only available through Duo.
